Frequently asked questions

Everything about how TrackMyWallet reads your wallets, keeps your keys out of it, and turns on-chain history into a portfolio you can actually read.

Getting started

A crypto portfolio tracker. You give it your public wallet addresses (and, if you like, read-only exchange keys); it reads the public blockchain, works out what you hold, what it cost and how it's performing, and keeps it in sync automatically. Try the live demo to see the dashboard with sample data.

No. You paste a public address — nothing is connected, nothing is installed, and no transaction is ever signed. You can optionally sign in with an Ethereum wallet instead of an email/password, but that's just a login method.

Yes. Tracking up to 5 wallets, all 37 networks, exchange sync, CSV import, the value and staking-income charts, the benchmark and the on-screen realized-gains/tax report are all free. A Premium plan adds a few conveniences (see below).

Register, then paste a public address on the Wallets page. The first sync pulls your history from the chain — a large or long-lived address can take a few minutes; you can leave the page and it finishes in the background.

Yes — paste an xpub, ypub or zpub and TrackMyWallet derives every active address behind it, so you don't have to add them one by one. (Only Bitcoin and its forks support this; EVM and Solana wallets are single-address.)

Yes. Enter something like vitalik.eth when adding an Ethereum wallet and it's resolved to the address for you.

Security & privacy

Never. TrackMyWallet only ever asks for a public address or an extended public key. There is no field for a private key or seed phrase anywhere in the app, and we couldn't use one if you sent it.

No. It has read-only access to public data. There is nothing in the system that can sign a transaction, so your funds can't be moved or spent from here — there's simply nothing to steal.

Your email and a hashed password, the wallet addresses / xpubs you add, and the transaction history, balances and prices we fetch on your behalf from public sources. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

No, unless you explicitly turn on a public profile link. It's off by default, and even when on you choose whether wallet addresses are shown or redacted; your email, individual transactions and IRR are never shared.

You can remove any wallet at any time, which deletes its data. For full account deletion, email info@trackmywallet.app — the GDPR rights (access, portability, erasure) are covered in the Privacy Policy.

Only add keys with read-only permission — never trading or withdrawal rights. TrackMyWallet only needs to read your balances and trade history. If a key is ever compromised it can't do anything but look.

Chains & exchanges

37 networks: Bitcoin (and Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash), Ethereum with its major L2s (Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Scroll, zkSync Era, Linea and more), Solana, Aptos, Tron, Berachain, XRP Ledger, Cardano, Stellar, TON, Hedera, Algorand, Avalanche (C- and P-Chain) and seven Cosmos chains. The full grid is on the home page.

Kraken, Coinbase, Binance and Bitpanda sync automatically from a read-only API key. For any other exchange, export a CSV and import that instead.

Yes — TrackMyWallet reads the standard trade/transaction exports from Binance, Coinbase, Kraken and Bitpanda, plus a generic column format for anything else.

Prices come from CoinGecko; a very new or thinly-traded token may not be listed, in which case it shows without a value. Obvious spam and spoofed-price tokens are flagged and kept out of your totals. Open the asset to record what it actually cost you if it's a real holding.

Your portfolio & the numbers

Every transaction is priced at the moment it was confirmed, so your cost basis is what you actually paid, not an estimate. Staking and other rewards enter cost basis at their value when received.

IRR (internal rate of return) annualizes your return — what your gain or loss would be if it continued at the same rate for a year. For a position held only a few days, a small move projected over a year looks huge. The plain "Return" figure is usually the more meaningful one for recent trades.

It answers "what if I'd put the same money, on the same dates, into just BTC or ETH instead?" — overlaid on your value chart so you can see whether your choices beat simply holding.

A background service checks your wallets regularly on its own. You can also sync manually — once an hour on the free plan, every five minutes on Premium.

A newly added wallet's history imports newest-first and can take a few syncs to complete. Cost basis, invested amount and return are marked provisional until it catches up, then settle.

No. Moves between your own wallets and exchanges are matched automatically and treated as cost-neutral — no phantom gain, no double counting — in your returns, the tax report and the charts.

Staking & tax

Exchange staking/earn payouts, Ethereum validator withdrawals, Solana stake-account rewards, Tron voting rewards, Gnosis GNO, Polygon POL and Avalanche P-Chain rewards are detected automatically and shown in the "Staking income" card, per month and per coin, with a forward projection based on your own observed yield.

No. Liquid-staking yield accrues inside the token's balance itself rather than as separate payouts, so it shows up as a rising position value, not as a staking-income bar.

Realized gains for the year with FIFO or average-cost accounting, holding periods, and — for German users — the §23 private-sale view with the one-year holding rule. It's on-screen and exportable as CSV for free; a formatted PDF is a Premium feature.

Yes. Disposals are split by whether the coins were held over or under a year, and the §23 gain and the Freigrenze verdict are shown. It's built to help you and your Steuerberater, not to replace them.

Both — switch the accounting method on the realized-gains report and every figure recalculates.

No. TrackMyWallet is a tool that organizes your on-chain history into a report. It isn't a tax advisor and doesn't file anything for you — check the numbers with a professional before you rely on them.

Plans

Free covers up to 5 wallets, 3 price alerts and hourly manual sync, with the full dashboard, all networks, exchange sync, CSV import, staking tracking, the benchmark and the on-screen tax report. Premium adds unlimited wallets, five-minute manual sync, more price alerts, email notifications, a daily performance briefing and the PDF tax export.

Self-serve checkout is coming. In the meantime the free plan is deliberately generous — get in touch at info@trackmywallet.app if you're hitting a limit.
